The conveyance of Salaam

Assalamualaykum warahmatullah wabarakatu, Bismillah Hirah'manir Raheem.
Allahuma Sali'ala sayidina Muhammadin nabiyil ummi wa 'Ala ali wa sahbihi wa salim

(This post is dedicated to my sister Mujahidah an Nafs-sorry it's not very good)
Something that I have been meaning to post on for a while is the importance of conveying Salam to our fellow muslims brothers and sisters. I feel that there are many of us out there who fail to put this importance into practise in our everyday lives and whats more it is part of the sunnah of our Beloved Prophet saliala hualayhi wassalam. Allah subhana wa ta'ala has said in the Quran

"And when you are greeted with a greeting, greet in return with what is better than it, or (at least) return it equally." (Qur'an, An-Nisa 4:86)

Subhan'Allah our Lord has said in the Holy book how that when we are greeted we must return the greeting with words that are greater than what the conveyor has said to us.

There are many of us out who fail to see that the greeting of a muslim is very special, it means (as shown above) 'Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings'. This is such a nice thing to say to a fellow muslim and to have someone say it back to you is an even better thing, it creates love between one another Fisabililah. It is very important that we greet one another in the manner that has been shown by our Beloved Prophet Saliala hu alayhi wassalam as he said:
"When one of you meets a brother [in Faith], he should greet him. Then if a tree or a wall or a stone should intervenes between them and then he meets him again, he should greet him." [Abu Dawood]
Subhan'Allah so beautifully these words are put by the Beloved Messenger saliala hualayhi wassalam; so it is a command by Allah subhana wa ta'ala and it is also a sunnah of the prophet saliala hualayhi wassalam.

Also another point that should be noted here is that when we are with our young we need to bring them up with the sunnah in their life and as mothers we should teach them to convey salam through our actions thus greeting every muslim you see with salam will also encourage our children to spread the word of peace insh'Allah. It makes me feel warm to see younger children convery salam to everybody, I was once travelling and I met this sister who had reverted to Islam, mash'Allah she had a beautiful younger daughter who wherever she would go would convey salam to everybody! Mash'Allah. May Allah keep her steadfast in her salam.

There are numerous hadith which tell us to give salam to our fellow muslim brothers and sisters, however one that should always be in our minds is:
"The one who says salam first is free from pride"
This shows muslims that we are not people who are proud and we should always be taking the opportunity we get to greet each other.

I'll leave this post with the duaa that May Allah give us all the ability to put the sunnah into our lives and may He give us all the ability to greet one another with salam. Ameen wa thuma ameen.

Assalamualaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatu :)
